Description |
The Carolina Panthers have been the premier professional sports franchise in Charlotte since 1995 when they were added to the long list of NFL teams as an expansion team along with the Jacksonville Jaguars. By compiling a great combination of league veterans and top rookies, the Panthers endured early success by reaching the 1996 NFC Championship game versus the Green Bay Packers. In 2003, the ‘Cardiac Cats’ acquired Quarterback Jake Delhomme from the New Orleans Saints and Panthers fans immediately realized drastic improvements. Jake led the Panthers to Super Bowl XXXVIII but fell just short of the New England Patriots by way of a heart-breaking last second field goal. Currently, head coach John Fox is leading the Panthers on a quest for their second straight NFC South division title.
