Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Scholarship Fund
Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Student Athlete Program was launched by company owner and Fund founder Chuck Hood to recognize recognize local students in the Charlotte Mecklenberg School District who distinguished themselves on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community, the fund has, to date, awarded more than $175,000 to some 150 local high school students to further their education through the Hood Hargett organization.
How the Scholarship Fund works
Six times during the school year (September through May), HHBC awards a $1,500 scholarship to the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Scholarship Fund winner at its monthly Breakfast meeting, held at Quail Hollow Country Club. That month’s winner is invited to be a part of this Breakfast, where they are introduced and recognized from the podium before being invited to sit with the guest speaker at the head table. To be eligible the student must be in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. The student’s parents, high school principal and coach are also invited and encouraged to attend.
All Fund winners are further recognized each year at our May Breakfast event.
Applicants for the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Scholarship Fund come from a number of sources, including nominations by:
- high school coaches
- principals
- community leaders
- business executives
Selection of the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Scholarship Fund winner is determined by a group of business owners who are not members of the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club.
