SCOTT RISSMILLER, MD, CAROLINA’S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
Scott Rissmiller, MD, has been a part of Carolinas HealthCare System since 1997, having started as a resident. During his time with Carolinas HealthCare System, Dr. Rismiller led the creation of Carolinas Hospitalist Group, overseen the adult acute care division, and was recently named the Deputy Chief Physician Executive. He currently is responsible for the surgical care division, primary care division, adult acute care division and the behavioral health service line. Under his leadership the adult acute care division achieved nationally leading quality performance measures across all specialties. The division also successfully integrated innovative care delivery models, such as virtual care, around patient and system goals and he helped bring together 13 disparate specialties and created a culture of collaboration around improving quality and experience for patients.
Dr. Rissmiller is very involved with the Society of Hospital Medicine, having served on several committees. In 2013, Dr. Rissmiller was named as an author of the recently published “The Key Principles and Characteristics of an Effective Hospital Medicine Group.” He is also a proud alum of the University of Georgia and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.
