Being a part of the motorsports industry has been • instilled in Chad Knaus since his childhood days of working at Midwest racetracks with his father. Making his NASCAR debut in 1991, Knaus has spent time with some of the most prominent racing names in the sport and amassed an impressive record along the way. He currently represents Hendrick • Motorsports as the crew chief for Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 Lowes Chevrolet car. Knaus has coached Johnson to 64 victories and five consecutive Sprint Cup Championships.
Knaus’ road to NASCAR began as a young teenager when he started working as a crew chief for his father, John. The father-son duo quickly climbed their way up the championship ladder and earned their first title at the Rockford Speedway when Knaus was 14. By the time Knaus entered NASCAR in the early 90s, the pair had tallied seven championships together.
