Hough High School senior Joseph Obeid was recently awarded the Hood Hargett Liz Murray Scholarship worth $1,000 during the September Hood Hargett Breakfast Club in South Charlotte.
The scholarship is given to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Student athlete scholars who display exceptional excellence in the classroom and the community.
“I am so proud of Joey. He has worked so hard all four years of high school in both his athletics and academics,” said Joseph’s mother, Jodi Obeid, speaking to his achievement. “He earned this.”
Heath Morrison, CMS superintendent, and Chuck Hood, Hood Hargett independent insurance broker, were in attendance at the breakfast honoring those who received the scholarship.
The Hood Hargett Breakfast Club has awarded more than $250,000 to more than 150 local high school students.
